Happy Birthday Iason Hassanov!

Yesterday was our favorite Steam Man, Iason Hassanov, typist's actual life birthday.  Thank you to those of you that came out to the gathering at Coughton Court to wish him a great one!

Lady Soliel Snook found a *hilariously* funny e-card for us to send him that uses her picture, my picture, and three actual life pictures.  One of a handsome gentleman and these two women named Janny and Kristin...

I have no idea who they all are, but they look like they are having a good time!

Ça commence en France le 14 Avril.  Oh que je suis jalouse!

Introducing...New Toulouse Jardin!

I am now taking reservations for New Toulouse Jardin. The planning map is in New Toulouse's Laveau Square at .

New Toulouse Jardin will be the fourth sim in the New Toulouse community.  It will sit on the grid directly west of the New Toulouse sim.

Note: I (Gabrielle) was somewhat restricted in Jardin's layout and parcel organization in order to accommodate the former residents of Edison and the Edison Ballroom that I needed to move into the sim.

Jardin is based on the actual world New Orleans Garden District.  At the beginning of the 19th Century, what is now the Garden District, was open plantation land.  By the mid 19th Century, the plantation owners were selling and subdividing the land into large plots, with only a couple of houses per block, each surrounded by a large garden, giving the district its name.  Americans moved into the area and built large Queen Anne and Victorian style mansions and homes.  The …

Love versus Hate, Beauty versus Ugliness

It has been a really bizarre week for me.  On one hand I have been dealing with direct hate and total ugliness in one community, and in another, I've been experiencing the total opposite.  Such love and such beauty!

For readers that do not know, New Toulouse Bayou, NT's third sim, landed a week ago last night.  I put many, many hours of work into creating the foundation of the sim before it arrived, as it used to be my sim Edison.  So, I was able to do a lot of work on the terraforming, parcel planning, road and train track layout, and some very basic landscaping with trees and plants.  I'm guessing I put about 40 hours of work into it prior to it landing in its permanent location just west of New Toulouse Algiers.

The following pictures are all of New Toulouse Bayou, taken this morning Friday, March 5, 2010.

I am not a stranger to planning an entire sim.  I had two years of "playing" with Caledon Carntaigh, and then I did terraform, parcel and landscape Edison …

Welcome Back to the Jungle, Your Grace

So, how was *your* Monday yesterday?

Mine was pretty interesting! :-) I was offline most of Saturday and Sunday due this thing called Real Life. I was completely unaware that a firestorm of drama had erupted and that I was being crucified on several Blogs, in Plurk, in IMs and anywhere else people could get a foothold to scream about how horrible I am. Should I be glad, or worried that I am used this, and just find it a slight annoyance now?

It seems that several people have turned a simple oversight into the Crime Of The Century Against The Independent State of Caledon. I marvel at the thousands of words that this has generated, all based on a small amount of information and gossip. And that not one single person has contacted me directly to say "Hey Gabi, what's up with all of this?" I received a few indirect, passive requests for information, to which I responded by giving out my email address.

It's my understanding, for I have not read these Blog posts, nor…

On Gossip...

“The best ammunition against lies is the truth, there is no ammunition against gossip. It is like a fog and the clear wind blows it away and the sun burns it off.” ~ Ernest Hemingway

“In our appetite for gossip, we tend to gobble down everything before us, only to find, too late, that it is our ideals we have consumed, and we have not been enlarged by the feasts but only diminished.” ~ Pico Iyer

“Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down” ~ The Bible

“Scandal is gossip made tedious by morality.” ~ Oscar Wilde

"Some praise me, some blame me. I go the other way." ~ Mirabai

I do not know how many times I have said this.  It makes me sad that I have to keep saying it:

If you hear something about me that confuses you, concerns you or angers you?  SPEAK TO ME DIRECTLY ABOUT IT.  I will be happy to talk to you.
