Gen X with Gabi: 80s Electro

It's the last Tuesday of the month, which means it's time for the Generation X with Gabrielle show!

It is my honor to feature Gen X with Gabi at the weekly Terpsichore Tuesday program in Caledon Mayfair. Please join me, and Host, Lord Steadman Kondor, the Duke of Caledon Mayfair, tonight from 6:00pm - 7:30pm SLT at the Town Hall in Caledon Mayfair ( If you can not join us, please tune in on my event stream: .

Tonight's theme: 80s Electro! And my focus is specifically on Early 80s British Electro.  Some called it New Wave.  Some called it The New Romantics.  Some called it the Second British Invasion in the United States. I called it "awesome" back then, and I still do today! Tonight's artist lineup includes: Human League, Ultravox, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Yaz, Erasure, Adam & the Ants, Bronski Beat and many more.

I'm in love with a Duke!

Duke Special, that is.  :-)

I have become completely addicted to Duke's music in the last month or so.  We run two of his albums in rotation on Radio Riel Steampunk.  I found that I was squeeing with glee every time a Duke Special song played while I was listening to the Steampunk stream, so I moved the albums into rotation on my iPod.

I just love everything about this guy's work. I find the basic melodies of his songs extremely appealing and catchy.  There is something about the fully produced tracks that hooks me too...maybe the slight "Cabaret" sound?  And the lyrics...well those are what always get me in the end!  His official website is

I was pleased to find a video for my current favorite Duke Special song. .  Enjoy!

Giving Thanks for a Community of Music

Happy New Year dear friends! I wish you all the very best in this new year, and new decade!  2010 is but hours old, and already I am so very thankful and filled with gratitude because of everyone that came out to celebrate the New Year in Edison Hypatia last night.

One year ago exactly, I was feeling so lost in Second Life.  Everything that I had focused on and worked so hard on, my life in Caledon, was suddenly just...gone.  It was extraordinarily hard for me, and I was grieving.  But as difficult as that time was, it forced me to open my eyes and my perspective on community in Second Life, and community in general.

Three years ago when Red Caliber, Mitsu Figaro, Edward Pearse and I starting forming our "radio station", we spent several days brainstorming on what to call ourselves.  Red and I had been referring to our station as "Radio Caledon", but when I stepped back and *really* thought about it, I realized that the station I could see in my head was so much mo…
