Living a Dream

Blue water, reflecting the blue sky.
Sun above us, burning bright and high.
Take my hand...and walk with me.

For My Dragon

"Dreams on Fire"
A.R. Rahman Feat. Suzanne D'Mello
Music From The Motion Picture Slumdog Millionaire

You are my waking dream,
You’re all that’s real to me,
You are the magic in the world I see,
You are the prayer I sing,
You brought me to my knees,
You are the faith that made me believe…

Dreams on fire,
Higher and Higher,
Passions burning,
Right on the pyre…

One spark, forever yours,
Give me all your heart,
Dreams on fire,
Higher and Higher…

You are my ocean waves,
You are in my heart every day,
You are the laughter from childhood games,
You are the spark of dawn,
You are where I belong,
You are the ache I feel in every song…

Dreams on fire,
Higher and Higher,
Passions burning,
Right on the pyre…

One spark, forever yours,
Give me all your heart,
Dreams on fire,
Higher and Higher…

Red Light Fever - by Liz Phair

Lying wide awake in the dark
Tryin' to figure out where you are
Always goin' nowhere
'Fraid of goin' somewhere
Somewhere's a place in your heart

Sometimes when I think about you
Why you're always running away
Sitting in your car
Changing who you are
Drowning the thoughts of you like in the music

Scared the lights will turn green
You'll have to be seen
You'll be like anybody else
Scared the lights will turn red
You're stuck in your head
You can't run it to even her
How you gonna get through the year
You can't

Playin' on the sides of the night
Too many people want too many things
And you only want to forget

Scared the lights will turn green
You'll have to be seen
You'll be like anybody else
Scared the lights will turn red
You're stuck in your head
Too scared to commit to even her
How you gonna make it through

You're always listenin'
You're always listenin'

The Royal Mile Pub Meetup

I am visiting the Washington DC area in RL this weekend, and today several residents of the 19th Century grid met with me for lunch at the Royal Mile Pub in Wheaton, Maryland. We enjoyed many pints of beer, stew, scotch eggs...however no one braved the haggis. :-)

Here are the photos from the event!

Mmmm - beer!

I love RL meetups. Every one I have ever attended has been wonderfully fun. And today was no exception. We chatted and had a lovely time, and I was able to record some of our conversation for an upcoming episode of Voices in the Machine!

Thank you for a fabulous afternoon Pod, Kira and Darien!

Miss Riel Goes to Washington...and Philadelphia!

Do you live in the metropolitan areas of Washington, DC or Philadelphia, PA? I am planning 2 "actual life", casual lunch meetups for those of us that live on the 19th Century grid, or in the Realm of the Roses. As long as my health and the weather remain stable, I will be hosting the following events:
Lunch at The Royal Mile Pub in Wheaton, MD ( from 1-4pm EST on Saturday, January 24Lunch at a location TBD (possibly Lancaster, PA) from 1-4pm EST on Saturday, February 7We already have several people in both locations that plan to attend, so please contact me at, or via notecard in SL, if you are interested in joining us!

Somebody's Song

Somebody's Song

This is what I vow;
He shall have my heart to keep,
Sweetly will we stir and sleep,
All the years, as now.
Swift the measured sands may run;
Love like this is never done;
He and I are welded one:
This is what I vow.

This is what I pray:
Keep him by me tenderly;
Keep him sweet in pride of me,
Ever and a day;
Keep me from the old distress;
Let me, for our happiness,
Be the one to love the less:
This is what I pray.

This is what I know:
Lovers' oaths are thin as rain;
Love's a harbinger of pain-
Would it were not so!
Ever is my heart a-thirst,
Ever is my love accurst;
He is neither last nor first:
This is what I know.

Now at Liberty

Now at Liberty

Little white love, your way you've taken;
Now I am left alone, alone.
Little white love, my heart's forsaken.
(Whom shall I get by telephone?)
Well do I know there's no returning;
Once you go out, it's done, it's done.
All of my days are gray with yearning.
(Nevertheless, a girl needs fun.)

Little white love, perplexed and weary,
Sadly your banner fluttered down.
Sullen the days, and dreary, dreary.
(Which of the boys is still in town?)
Radiant and sure, you came a-flying;
Puzzled, you left on lagging feet.
Slow in my breast, my heart is dying.
(Nevertheless, a girl must eat.)

Little white love, I hailed you gladly;
Now I must wave you out of sight.
Ah, but you used me badly, badly.
(Who'd like to take me out tonight?)
All of the blundering words I've spoken,
Little white love, forgive, forgive.
Once you went out, my heart fell, broken.
(Nevertheless, a girl must live.)

Saving New Toulouse

I am sure many of you have heard by now that Mama Cree aka Carricre Wind announced that she must sell the wonderful community that she created, New Toulouse. New Toulouse is a nod to early 20th Century New Orleans. I have always loved the community, and hearing that it could be wiped off the grid is devastating.

I have let Carricre know that I am interested in purchasing New Toulouse. I want to keep the sims exactly as they are. Builds, theme etc. The only change I would make is to have them moved on the grid to connect with my sim Edison Hypatia. The communities of New Toulouse and Edison are from the same general time frame, although Edison is a bit earlier. They are also both North American in flavor, although New Loo is the southern region and Edison is more midwestern/northern.

This is going to be a challenge for me financially, as I don't have much linden liquidity at the moment. So I am seeking backers that can float me some cash for the initial purchase, and that I c…

What's in a Title?

As you likely know, the Caledon Blogs have been on fire for the last several days with many residents admitting that they are very frustrated with the lack of civility in Caledon now. One of the "points" that has been mentioned a lot is titles.

The topic of titles, and the use of them in Caledon, has made the rounds in the blogs before...but I have never said a word in response to any discussions regarding titles. Why? Because I had one. And because I was an Estate Manager. It still amazes me to this day that some people put such emphasis on "being a Duke or Duchess" in Caledon. Let me fill you in on a little secret..."being a Duke or Duchess" in Caledon means absolutely nothing.

*waits until the shocked gasps subside*

It means absolutely nothing...except for what you make of it. It means you pay more than some people for your land...however less than others.

I can say this, because I was 1/4 of the 4 people that were the "first Caledon Duchesses&q…

The Bigger Picture

Two blog posts in one day - have I *ever* done this before? ;-)

Today I feel I need to. I feel like my previous post did not fully give the bigger picture...MY bigger picture.

Before I get to that...I am going to take you on a trip back in time to post I made over a year ago, here in this Blog. Read it - it actually is quite pertinent now:

I still believe what I wrote back then. And I am still sad and frustrated with the rude, pointless, vulgar things that roll across ISC chat. Yes, it *is* possible to believe in the power of Caledon and to be incredibly turned off by a portion of it. ;-) Otenth made a great post with a fabulous Venn diagram I really think the diagram says it all!

Every resident of Caledon has lived their SL in Caledon through their own filter. According to their own tastes, focusing on their preferred activi…

The Death of Politesse

*looks up at the title of her Blog post*

I have been wanting to write this post for at least 6 months. I've had the title that long too. And yet...I never did. What do I mean by this title, "The Death of Politesse"? It refers to the complete cessation of decent behavior in Caledon. Miss Emilly Orr had the wherewithal to start the conversation that I have been *so* loathe to instigate. My dear, distant cousin, Lord Edward Pearse the Duke of Argylle has followed up with an excellent summary of the discussion thus far, with convenient links to many of the residents who have weighed in, quite eloquently, on the topic.

So...why did I not post this 6 months ago when it began to seriously bother me? Well, I have felt for two years that I could not express my true feelings or opinions in Caledon for fear of causing grand, grand drama. Why do you think I have so many weird, cryptic Blog posts? There are things that I have needed to get out of my head without giving any of …
