Riel Dreams Come True

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who discovered her father's cassette tape recorder sitting on the dining room table. She took the tape recorder from the table and pressed the record button...and spoke into it...

I can hardly believe that a life long dream of mine is about to become rie-ality!

Pirates of the Caledonian

On the spur of the moment this past weekend, Miss Fuschia Begonia (Pixie Extraordinaire) was struck with the fabulous idea of a Pirate Rave as an American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraising event. She communicated this to Fearless Captain Paris of the RFL Caledon Team...who then ran the idea by me.

I absolutely had to do it - as the shadow of cancer has once again come into the life of the human behind the avatar that is Gabrielle Riel. My son's preschool teacher, who is an angel on this Earth recently suffered a setback after having survived a difficult battle with breast cancer 10 years ago. She had her second surgery in as many weeks last Thursday. I did hear today that the surgery went as well as could be expected, and that her most recent MRI showed positive results.

Still, I wanted to *do* something...anything. I commenced the Pirate Rave at 3:00pm SLT on Sunday. At 5:00pm SLT, we auctioned off 2 hours of my professional DJ services - the winner being Miss Hermoine Fuss…

I just love, love, love a good surprise! And boy did Lady Kate and I ever pull one over on Cousin Eva! :-) Not only is Eva my cousin, but also a very, very dear friend. She has been there for me, and for the human behind the avatar that is Gabrielle Riel. Yes, Duchesses do cry on eachother's shoulders! :-) Therefore, I wanted to do something extremely special for her on her first Rez Day in Second Life.Lady Kate and I, with the help of input from other friends, were able to fly this one totally under Eva's radar...which is quite a feat as she is the Goddess of logistics and planning! We lured her to the party on the pretense that I was reviving my show "Gen X with Gabrielle" (which *is* going to happen soon!)...and once we had her in our clutches...surprise!!! What ensued was one of the best Naughty Duchess parties to date! The New and Improved Duchess Sandwich

God Save the Queen on Her Birthday

Last Thursday. my dear friends Sir Edward Pearse and Lady Christine McAllister held a charming soiree in honor of Queen Victoria's Birthday at their home, Davaar in Caledon Cay. I was pleased to provide the Victorian music of the evening, with a brief interlude of current Canadiana from my darling Knight, Sir Red Caliber. Sir Red and Lady Christine have a distinct fondess for Canadians. :-)

Partay for Kate!

Last night, I had the honor of playing music for my good friend, the Honorable Kate Nicholas at her First Rez Day Party! A group of Kate's friends and well-wishers joined us in Loch Avie for a fun, hilarious and rolicking evening. Cousin Eva has also written a lovely description of Kate's party here in her Blog, The Red Rose of Caledon.Lady Kate works it with friends all aroundThe Rez Day GirlHappy party-goersHappy, happy Rez Day Kate! :-)

The Wish...coming true

Touraments and Raves and Balls...oh my!

To say that this past weekend in the Independent State of Caledon was busy, is an understatement! (Read Col. Otoole's rundown on the non stop action this weekend.) The evening of Friday, May 18, my dear Cousin Eva Bellambi, Her Grace the Duchess of Loch Avie held a joint tournament in her Duchy. (Read Eva's blog about the event and view her slideshow!)

This landmark event was the first ever combined event between Torvaldsland, a Gorean Sim, and Caledon - all coordinated by Her Grace and one of the esteemed knights of her Order of the Red Rose, Sir Telemachus Dean. The goal? A fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Project. The participants and attendees raised over $130,000 L!!!

News Flash: Guvnah Desmond Shang Survives Assassination Attempt!

Look at what the security cameras in the office of Guvnah Desmond Shang caught this weekend!!!

I can not express my gratitude enough to the Caledon Tanglewood Gun Bunnies for their heroic efforts in saving the life of our dear Guvnah!

A "Scream" of a Party

This evening I held a "Scream Off Some Steam" party at Coughton Court. It has been a stressful, up and down week...for many reasons. Miss Christine McAllister eloquently describes some of the drama that has come along with the Caledon-Neualtenburg conflict perfectly in a post on her Blog, which you can read here. That situation was one of several that left me feeling the need to host a big bash.

So tonight, I decided to blow the lid off Carntaigh...and oh my, did we ever! :-) Here I am dancing by myself, prior to the arrival of my fabulous, decadent and naughty guests.

Thank you so much to all of you that attended! I know for some of you it was your first time at one of my "wild, un-Duchess-like" gatherings....and everyone was such a good sport about it. Of course, it wouldn't have been a "Gabi party" without the....drumroll please...Duchess Sandwich. The lucky recipient this time? My darling, Sir Red Caliber.

At first he did not seem intere…

Into the Traitors' Den

Last evening Cousin Eva and I threw ourselves into the breach and met with our former friend Hotspur Otoole and his lethal Agent, Hermoine Pennyfeather in order to try and bring this horrific chapter in Caledon history to a close. Click here to read Eva's description of the meeting.

How did the Kaiserin Escape?

First of all, there was The Distraction...

And then, The Extraction.... (coming soon!)

La Guerre Commence!

On Saturday, May 5, Cousin Eva and I were in Victoria some shopping. Yes, that's what we were doing - shopping! We had taken a brief repose to admire the rose garden at the Guvnah's mansion when suddenly the sounds of galloping horses and gunshots filled the air. Click here to read a summary of the events that followed as documented by Sir Edward Pearse.Eva and I looked at each was time. She and I quietly hurried north up Bauerhoff street towards Carntaigh...and towards the House of the Three Graces in Caledon Mayfair...

Caledon Wars: A New Hope

Thanks to the extremely brave efforts of the ward of Lord Bardhaven, Miss Kiralette Kelley, Cousin Eva and I now have the information that we need to take action on behalf of our imprisoned Cousin Kendra!

Miss Kelley has risked her very life to bring Kendra's message to Eva and myself - click here to read about Miss Kelley's amazing bravery in her own words! Click here to read about her heroism from Sir Edward Pearse's perspective. Kendra's MessageMy dearest Cousins,Excuse the brevity of our missive as it is quite tortuous to incribe with my pricked finger on this course napkin.I am being held captive by the dread Lord Bardhaven. A Man of no small interest in my death. He constantly mumbles about some fellow named Clive and deals with me in the rudest of manners. If by some fortuitous happenstance this crude message reaches you, dry your eyes and lift your spirits. The resilience of a Neualtenburger has carried me quite well through this ordeal and I though battered, I a…

I knew it would not be long before the people of Neualtenburg responded to the kidnapping of my Cousin Kendra!

Rumours are swirling...that these CHIT fiends are in actuality supported by none other than our dear Guvnah, Desmond Shang!

If this is the case, then the Neualtenburgers will have no choice...

What is this world coming to?

Beltane Ball

Caledonians took a break from war (and drama!) on the evening of 05/01/2007 to celebrate Beltane in Caledon Loch Avie, the home of my dear Cousin Eva.

At sundown, Her Grace inducted 3 Knights in her Order of the Red Rose: Sir ZenMondo Wormser, Sir Telemachus Dean and Sir Adso Krogstad. Her Grace Knighting Sir Telemachus
Her Grace Knighting Sir AdsoThen, in true Celtic tradition, Her Grace lit the Need Fires. The flames leapt and cavorted against the hills of Loch Avie, as did the revelers! Our dance was aided in the fabulous Maypole created by Miss Kate Nicholas and scripted by Sir ZenMondo - it is truly a work of art!

Me by the Need FiresThe highlight of the evening for me, however, was when I brought my dear friend Sir Edward Pearse on he could propose to his lady, Christine McAllister. Thank goodness she said "yes"! :-)Thus ended Caledon's first "official" celebration of Beltane. I do believe we all were moved by the spirits in Loch Avie that night…
